Bellatrix Lestrange
Series: Harry Potter
Variant: Order of the Phoenix Movie Version
First Worn: Grand Hallows Ball- Borders 7.21.07
Retired?: No
Do I need to explain how awesome Bellatrix is? Who doesn't really, deep
down, love a villian? You know you do. I just loved Bellatrix in OotP
and I had been planning on creating my own version of her and then I
found out Helena Bonham Carter was going to play her. I love Helena.
She is my goddess. And when I saw production stills? I knew this had
to be mine. So I started on this hoping to have it done for the premiere
of Order of the Phoenix, but it wasn't quite finished. But it was done
in time for the Midnight Book Release of the Deathly Hallows. I'd worked
at Borders for 7 years at the time and this was my third midnight release
and the last so it was time to go out with a bang. I was part of the
team heading up the entire show, so it was bound to be a busy night.
The main dress is an empire waisted sundress
in black cotton. The sleeves were made by drafting a pattern and modifying
it to allow for the grommets used to tie up the sleeves and onto the
dress. The necklace was made using silver Sculpty II and reference stills
from the motion picture. The Dark Mark is a temporary tattoo which I
purchased online. The corset used is a temporary fix until I finished
making one that is closer to the original. It worked great though! The
boots were purchased at GoodWill for $2.00. Ahhh... happy accidents!
I don't have a lot of pictures where I'm
not in the store, working, since I was in no state for picture afterwards...
or for a few days later. I hope to get some more photos when I finished
up this for AnimeCentral 2008. The sleeves and bodice need to be detailed
with the silver swirls and I want to re-do the sleeves a bit, as well
as making the actual corset and getting a wig, since my real hair falls
far too quickly ;)
